October Ghost Tours & Investigations

Well, its about that time of year folks...our tour season is winding down to an end.
Our next tours will be held on October 21, 22, & 28, with an Investigation to be held on the 21 & 28.

Cost is $25.00- take the tour at 9.30 and the investigation starts at 11.00 and goes until 12.30, and takes place in the Old Jail, the Clevland House and the Slave Cabin. Due to liability issues, participants muust be 16 or older.

But remember, just because our official tour season is over, doesn't mean you can't still investigate. We do private tours and investigations throughout the year.

Haunted Wilkes is excited to tell you about the 2011 season of Candle Light Ghost Tours presented by The Wilkes Heritage Museum!

This year things will be changed up a bit. We've had such a huge following that we will be meeting IN FRONT of the Wilkes Heritage Museum (The Old Courthouse- 100 East Main Street, Wilkesboro) instead of in front of the Old Jail.

Keep your wristband from the tour and get the Wilkes Heritage Musums Tour for only $4! (See their website for tour times)

We have a pre-season tour on April 16, and the official kickoff will be Friday May 20, during our FESTING IN THE FOOTHILLS event. (see Wilkes Heritage Museums website for more details).

So bring your cameras, your K-2 meters, EVP recorders, flashlights etc, & come hunt the haints while you are guided by Historically Costumed Tour Guides on our 90 minute walking tour of Haunted Wilkes! Tickets are $7.00 with 5 and under FREE. Children 16 & under must be accompanied by an adult.

Hey Guys! If you haven't already heard, we ARE going to do another Para Con in Wilkesboro this October 23rd. You can go to the WIlkes Heritage Museums website, click on calander of events, and then go to the eventbrite link to register there. Theres also a synopsis of the session. We only have 170 spots available, so register soon! If you came last year, you know how much fun we had!
Its $50.00 a person,(but will go up to $75.00 sometime in September-check the site) and The Addison for sure has given us a special rate. We're waiting to hear back as to whether the Hampton Inn is giving us a special rate too. But I think they will. So for the fee, you get the all day conference,(9-4.30)held at the Old Courthouse (now the Heritage Museum) snacks throughout, admission to the museum, the Ghost Tour that evening, and the Investigation that night.

Hey guys- its Heather from haunted Wilkes Ghost Tours and founder of 13th Hour Paranormal Investigation & Research, in Wilkes. Scott is busy working on his next best-seller, so we at the Ghost Tours have taken over this site. We'll be posting tour info, as well as when individual groups can come hunt our sites. As far as the Paranormal Conference goes- since we are just starting, and are a non-profit agency (thats right- we dont get paid to do tours & conferences-we do it cause we love it!) I'm not sure that we can get it together this year or not. Unless we have help from our Paranormal family. If some groups would volunteer to speak at a conference, and we could just get together and learn from each other, and get this thing going, maybe by next year we could be at the point of paying some. Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated on this! We would love to host the Conference again this year- we think we have a great spot! And from the response from some of you last year, we think its gonna go well, if we can pull it off.

Michael Potts took this photograph in the women's cell of the Old Wilkes Jail, where Ann Melton was held during Tom Dooley's trial for the murder of Laura Foster. Melton and Dooley reportedly whispered back and forth (the men's cell is right next door, separated by a wooden wall).

Courthouse spirit?

"This is my only picture from Wilkesboro with a possible something in it. I had been unable to walk anymore Friday night (Oct. 23, 2009) so I was waiting in the car. I took several pictures of the Courthouse while sitting there. This one has a light that looks like a human figure in the bushes on the right of the building.. The other pictures did not have the figure/light in them. I took this picture with a cell phone.

Bertha Bell in the Smithey Hotel

It's hard to hear, but after a photograph of Bertha Bell was held up on the second floor of the Smithey Hotel in Wilkesboro, the cross-talk program clearly says "Bertha Bell" at least twice. Bertha was a school nurse who allegedly haunts the site. This was gathered on the morning of Oct. 24, 2009, by R.G. Absher and Paranormal Scene Investigators.
